Research Summary
Organoid-based models of glioma and epigenetic mechanisms of glioma formation, progression and resistance.
Work in the Graham lab sits at the interface of developmental neurobiology, cancer biology and epigenetics. Gliomas often hijack neurodevelopmental mechanisms of maintaining a “plastic” cell state. We use stem cell and organoid-based models of brain tumors, primary tumor specimens and single cell multi-omics to elucidate these mechanisms, with a particular focus on the role of chromatin regulation.
Key questions our laboratory is trying to answer include:
How does cellular context influence transformation susceptibility?
What is the role of epigenetic rewiring such as bivalent chromatin in malignant gliomas?
How can we harness the power of cerebral organoid models to help us address these [and other] questions?
